The Department of English at The Pennsylvania State University at University Park, Pennsylvania, USA, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of English, with a specialization in the field of rhetoric and writing, to begin Fall 2024.
Candidates for the position must have a Ph.D. in English, writing, rhetoric, communication, or a related field at time of appointment. We are looking for someone with a promising research record in the field of rhetoric who is ready to participate in the life of a large English department. Experience or interest in administering a writing program would be advantageous but not required.
In addition, successful candidates should either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.
The typical teaching assignment for faculty in rhetoric is two courses per semester, with regular opportunities to teach senior seminars and graduate seminars. Graduate students in our program can pursue dual title Ph.D.s in Visual Studies; African American Studies; and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
