Position: Full-time; Middle and High School (6 - 12)
Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 commensurate with background and experience
Responsibilities:
- Teach middle and high school-level English courses, including providing writing instruction within a variety of contexts
- Demonstrate a broad knowledge of classic and modern literature, including adolescent literature
- Plan, structure, and implement interactive lessons that develop students’ critical thinking and analytical skills and provide students with methods of interpretation, analysis, and research
- Effectively use appropriate technology tools and a range of other instructional resources
- Work collaboratively with a high degree of professionalism with colleagues for curriculum planning, student support, and mentoring
- Hold high expectations for every student and differentiate instruction to attend to the learning and social-emotional needs of students
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and administration
- Serve as a full community member by attending meetings, participating in committees, and volunteering for various student activities and school events
- Contribute constructively to all faculty discussions and continue to grow professionally (i.e. conferences, in-service training, staying current on professional literature)
Experience/Qualifications:
- Passion for teaching in Catholic, faith-based education
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature or related field; Master’s Degree preferred
- Experience teaching English at the secondary level
- New York State teacher certification in English preferred
