Job Summary:
Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. Founded in 1901 on the tenets of progressive education, the School currently enrolls 945 students and employs 200 dedicated faculty and staff members who, in addition to assistant teachers, substitute teachers and coaches, work together to ensure that the School lives up to its Mission to “educate students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse, democratic society and global community.”
We are currently seeking a dynamic, innovative and experienced educator in the field of English to join our faculty in the Upper School. Responsibilities include teaching a combination of yearlong required and semester-long elective courses. There are also opportunities to serve as an advisor, coach, club sponsor, and facilitator for collaborative work in our civic engagement programs.

Required Qualifications:
- B.A. in English or Secondary English Education required; M.A. or Ph.D. preferred
- At least three (3) years of high school English classroom experience
- Affinity and enthusiasm for working with mid-adolescents across grade levels and varied learning styles and academic needs
- Experience with/understanding of writing pedagogy and practice grounded in voice, experimentation, revision
- Experience with collaborative, cross-disciplinary curriculum development
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and progressive education
- Demonstrated record of developing one’s own cultural competency and incorporating diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in personal practice and curriculum
- Demonstrated commitment to community work and social justice projects
- Excellent communication skills, sound judgment and emotional maturity
