Island School (ischool.org) seeks an English Teacher with a commitment to teaching in a high-inspiring independent school setting. A full-time position includes teaching five classes (usually 2-3 courses) in English in grades 6-12. The position begins in late July for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Island School is a WASC/HAIS accredited PK-12 independent day school with a total enrollment of almost 500 students. The school is located on the rural island of Kaua`i, the northwestern most inhabited island in the Hawaiian archipelago. Island School is located on the island of Kaua'i, the northernmost inhabited island of the Hawaiian Island chain, which, due to its stunning natural beauty, is known as the "Garden Island."
The successful candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, and a desire to be part of an independent school community. Candidates should have experience differentiating instruction to work effectively with a range of learners, demonstrate a passion for teaching English, and demonstrate effective classroom management strategies. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in teaching high school English; hold a minimum of a B.A degree in English or Education. Additional responsibilities may include full participation in the life of the school, being an advisor, leading a club or other initiative, and/or coaching. 2 + years of relevant teaching experience in a non-profit, independent school preferred.

- Ability to motivate and manage students.
- Strong work ethic, adaptability, generous spirit, and confidence working with students.
