The Oakridge School seeks a dynamic, energetic, and knowledgeable English Teacher beginning August 2023. The ideal candidate grows through networking and lifelong learning, models outstanding character and empathy, and demonstrates flexibility and teamwork. This teacher maintains a student-centered, innovative classroom where students build an appreciation and love for learning. A skilled relationship builder, he or she communicates well with students, parents, and colleagues, invests in the school community, and understands the importance of family and school in developing the whole child.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree and teaching experience are required. Coursework and experience in teaching English in grades 5-8 is preferred.

The ideal candidate will also have:

-successfully implemented differentiated lesson plans

-good relationship-building skills with students, parents, and colleagues

-strong classroom management skills

-ability to be flexible and positive

-good organization, time management, and planning skills that contribute to the ability to communicate and collaborate with others

-a breadth of knowledge that allows for both cross-curricular collaboration as well as vertical scaffolding among multiple divisions

Other Job Functions:

-Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.

-Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

-Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by school policy.

-Serve on committees as assigned.

-Remain current on instructional practices in education. (e.g. instructional technology).
