Tessa International School is a fast growing bilingual school located in Hoboken, NJ, by New York City. In the School Year 2023-2024 we will serve nursery to grade 3 and will expand up to grade 5 in the coming few years. We offer three language tracks: Spanish, French, and Mandarin. We are recruiting a Lead Teacher for our dual-language primary. Their mission will be to implement the School’s vision for academic excellence and bilingualism in grade 1 and grade 2 (50% of the time each) in collaboration with the target language teacher. The teacher will plan and develop high quality lessons reflecting best practices, providing student support, collaborating with colleagues, supervisors, and students to build a connected and positive learning environment, within a bilingual, global curriculum.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and implement clear, well-thought-out lesson plans that connect in-class learning to concepts and real-world situations and generate enthusiasm and academic excellence in the classroom.
- Closely collaborate with target language teachers.
- Use a variety of developmentally appropriate instructional and assessment methods to meet the needs of all learners and provide varied forms of feedback on learning.
- Monitor the academic, personal, emotional, and social progress of students.
- Work with colleagues, management, and staff in a constructive, collaborative, and cooperative manner.
- Use technology purposefully in the classroom to enhance learning and to provide information and feedback to students and parents.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
- Communicate in a timely, clear, and effective manner with students, parents, and colleagues, informally and formally.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Contribute to a climate of respect and understanding amongst faculty and staff, students, and parents.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s is preferable
- Previous teaching experience of 3-5 years is preferable, focus on literacy is a plus
- Experience with the IB PYP is preferable, but not required
- Strong communication skills, a sense of humor, humility, and empathy
- Positive, solutions-focused personality
- Team-player
- Previous experience at an international school and/or cultural fluency derived from international experience is a plus
