Teachers at Cape Fear Academy deliver high quality instruction that emphasizes critical

Upper School English Teacher
Major Responsibilities:
1. Teach 5 sections of English
2. Serve as a faculty advisor
3. Provide a range of instructional and assessment strategies to meet the needs of all
students
4. Cultivate a clear, organized, and interactive Google Classroom and course website
5. Collaborate with staff members to create engaging lessons and a positive school culture
6. Track student data and uphold high behavioral and academic expectations
7. Support students with individual and small group work outside of class time as needed
8. Communicate and build effective relationships with students and families
9. Create an inviting and engaging classroom culture
10. Perform other projects and duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Teacher should be passionate, with experience and knowledge in secondary English. Teacher should have an interest in and ability to contribute to extracurricular activities. Teaching experience in an independent school is preferred.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in English or related field is required; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Three or more years of teaching experience in language arts is required.
School leadership experience is strongly preferred.
Equivalency:
Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above requirements.
