Katz Yeshiva High School is currently recruiting for the following position for the 2023–2024 school year:
Full-Time English Teacher Seeking dedicated, enthusiastic teacher with a master’s degree in English or a closely related discipline and a minimum of five years of experience in secondary English instruction to teach general and remedial courses consisting of composition, grammar, literature, reading comprehension, and vocabulary. Must have comprehensive knowledge of discipline-specific curriculum and instruction methods, strong communication skills, fair and consistent classroom management, and proficiency in basic educational technology. Compensation and benefits are highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach five classes four times weekly, for a total of 20 classes per week.
- Create and implement strategic weekly lesson plans and a wide range of formative and summative assessments consistent with course content and objectives.
- Provide thoughtful, substantive, individualized feedback on student work.
- Update Google Classroom and online gradebook RenWeb regularly.
- Hold scheduled weekly office hours during breakfast or lunch.
- Attend scheduled department, faculty, and professional development meetings.
- Attend extracurricular functions in support of the school community.
- Complete one weekly staff duty, such as monitoring detention or proctoring tests.
Required Skills
- Demonstrate subject area expertise, including the fundamentals of composition and grammar and a breadth of knowledge in various literary genres, regions, and periods.
- Adhere to a standard of professional and methodological excellence aligned with current best practices of the English discipline.
- Display an insatiable thirst for knowledge, professional development, and the integration of innovative pedagogy.
- Command students’ respectful attention and adherence to classroom rules and routines in order to facilitate an environment conducive to learning.
- Adjust teaching strategies and expectations to accommodate students with a diverse range of abilities and challenges.
- Recognize the relationship between social-emotional learning and academic performance, aspiring to develop and teach the whole student.
