Job Summary:
BB&N is seeking a full-time Upper School English teacher. Responsibilities include teaching four English classes. All courses aim to develop students’ critical thinking, reading, and writing skills. Junior- and senior-year courses explore a theme or genre and provide instruction in more advanced literary analysis, discussion, and various styles of writing. Additional responsibilities will vary according to current program needs and new initiatives.
BB&N seeks a candidate whose passion for literature from different genres, time periods, and perspectives contributes to a dynamic and engaging classroom experience for students; who is dedicated to encouraging adolescents to grow as writers and thinkers by reading closely and reflecting deeply; and who thrives as part of a collaborative team. While a master’s degree in English and at least four years of experience teaching both literature and writing at the high school level is preferred, we understand that not every great teacher’s path to teaching is a straight line. We look forward to hiring a creative and multi-dimensional teacher whose personal and professional characteristics will bring energy and new perspectives to our community.
To Apply:
Please upload your Cover Letter, Resume, Personal Statement, and/or Teaching Philosophy and Reference List. Please include your connection to BB&N’s mission and values in your cover letter.
